there are roach to be had in these areas Darren but its patchy to say the least.

Ive not been since november-ish, fished BJ and caythorpe/hoveringham/hazelford areas and had the odd decent day but more bad than good, theyre just not to be had in every peg like they used to be so its a bit of a lotery.

Best advise i can give is dont take a feeder rod, as you can go the first hour or so without a bite and be tempted to stick the feeder out instead, but youve got to keep at it hoping the roach will find your feed at some point. Dont overdoo the feed either, just keep it trickling in.

Ive found you get best results fishing as far out as you can mannage on the stick, nothing to be had off the rod end unless its very deep. I have caught on the waggler on the odd ocasion but its been bloody hard work.

Denis white often still takes roach bags of 10 to 15lb off the Barnsley day ticket water at Fiskerton.

Mind you, hes a bit good.
