Mick: ‘By heck, who’d have thought we’d all be sitting here in
Carper’s Paradise drinking Cheval Blanc?”

Cliff: ‘Aye! We never used to have anything years ago’

Mick: ‘That’s very true, but we were happy back then’

Cliff: ‘Aye! Thank God we never had much…did us good!’

Mick: ‘Y’know, I used to fish the whole weekend at Savay under a
forty-two inch Wavelock brolly for a couple of twenties and a
nuisance 10lb tench; and when I got home after a fifty mile
drive I’d find my dinner keeping warm on top of a pan of boiling
water’

Thank you, Geoff! Thank you, Barbelboi! Y'know, I honestly thought that Python sketch was ingrained in, well...everybody. Perhaps you have to be of a certain age. It's still not too late to add your two penn'orth. Go on... How 'toof' were it for you?

I put my feet in carrier bags and then stuffed news paper down my wellies. You could tell where you were on the social ladder by seeing which paper was used by your friends.

A fondue set was about the most upmarket thing in the world because I'm sure the only people that had them were contestants of the generation game.

If you wanted the finest dining money could buy you had a prawn cocktail and half a chicken in a basket.
