The main baits I've used there are 'squaw' fish, similar to a small barbel/gudgeon about 9ins long, tangerine size balls of salmon roe in a mesh net, 6 to 10 mud worms tied in a bunch with elastic thread. I caught 2 about 7ft long weighing approx 200lbs each using fist sized lumps of rotting smelly salmon on size 2/0 hooks. Rods were about 10ft capable of casting 20 to 24oz weights and using reels with 140lb braid as mainline. Tackle for dinosaur hunting is tough as you can't afford to play around with the fish.

What a monster!

I am pretty sure that guy used to run some tea rooms in Salisbury. A bit different to a plate of cucumber sandwiches!
