Just out of curiosity how do you catch herring for bait if you are charter boat fishing in Norway. Can you catch them on rod and line or is this not efficient. Anyone done it?

Small feathers or small hokeye type lures. Easier netted though.

A take it they don't take feathers as readily as mackerel then. Better to net just take a small boat out from a larger charter boat and circle round them.

Or just buy some on shore. They usualy feed on very small food items, I have caught them but not often and not by design.
