Went for an early morning session to our local club water this morning. Has some decent Carp and Tench in there, and some reasonable sized Perch. I don't usually fish for Perch, they are not a species that do it for me.
Fairly quiet morning, had a few knocks and caught a nice 13lb mirror and a few small roach. I was fishing luncheon meat on one rod, bread on the other. Getting a bit peckish, the Missus had packed me something to eat and in amongst the sandwiches and crisps was a pkt of Mattesons fridge raiders. Didn't really fancy those so decided to break them in two and hair rigged a chunk in place of the luncheon meat.
Within a minute of putting the rod down, I had a really good take, and struck into a decent sized Perch. Unhooked him and put him back in, re-baited and threw out again. Same thing happened. Almost instantly, another really good take and banked yet another. They weren't massive, but I was really surprised how quickly they went for this "new" bait. I know they are greedy little buggers, and will have a go at most things...but just thinking what a great bait it would be if you were seeking out the bigger ones.
So buy yourself a pkt of Mattesons Fridge Raiders, in "Kentucky Fried" flavour and see if they work for you!
