Why are mirror carp so named?

I don't believe it's because the scales look like mirrors, because the resemblance between the carps scales and mirrors is as far as I can tell tenuous to say the least.

Any Idea's?

actually it is, the mirrow was of course designed by accident, its a natural throw back from a leather carp, maipulated by man so that he could produce a fish for the table withoput the trouble of descaling them, as the carp reverts back to the common form varieties bred with scale defects, the spasely distrobuted lareger scsales reflected from the scaless areas and thus the mirror tag was introduced

When I've needed to brush my hair before a photo they've proved totally inadequate.

I don't know if it has anything to do with it but if you chip a mirror the piece looks very simialar to a mirror carps scale.
