Removing a deep hooked banded pellet with a disgorger!

Is it me or do you sometimes find it difficult locating the disgorger over the hook eye and onto the shank when the pellet and band is in the way?

With deep hooked fish I find i'm working blindly prodding around with a disgorger is not good and its not always evident that the band gets dislodged from the bait up past the hook eye and onto the line.

Maybe forceps would be better but locating the unseen hook?
I must state that its rare my fish are deep hooked but it does happen occasionally.
