has anyone tried the Sonik SK8 8wt fly rod? Is it a good choice for pike fly fishing?

I was thinking of getting one, or my other choice is the Airflo Bluetooth Nano 9ft 8wt.

Any views would be much appreciated.

Not tried Sonik gear but a lot of friends say its good stuff.
If you intend to fish big flies on wind swept waters i would recommend a 10# weight, which will also cope with small flies on small waters. Whereas an eight weight wont handle the big stuff.
Then when you get the bug you can buy a range of rods to cover all eventualities. Ask my mrs.........

I agree with Dave. You really need a 9ft 10wt to cast big flies effectively. Don't go over 9ft in length as you'll find longer rods very tiring.

Have a look here for some reasonably priced pike fly rods

An 8 AFTM rod is too light for pike fishing, I'd try a 9 or a 10.
