Hello all,
Been out of the game now for about 5 years.
Fell out of love with the sport now i'm aching to start again but differently this time.
I used to be a member of our local lakes in Chobham, Surrey.
Fished there since i was about 12 years old when i took up the hobby, then as i got older started to get involved with the matches, then i only really looked forward to doing the matches at the weekends so much so i never really went any other times.
Really enjoyed the competitive side of things but i found i was spending far too much money for my liking.
Could just go and get a couple of bits of bait no, it had to be maggots, pinkie's, hemp, pellets, worms, flavorings, ground bait etc...
In the end lost the focus that got me into it in the first place.
Still remember catching my first fish, a 5lb Common.
Caught on my Dad's old cane rod a Quill float and a massive earth worm, Fantastic stuff.
Anyway i want to spend a bit more time with the old fella so i'm going to get rid of all the match and carp gear and get a decent float rod and one reel a small tackle box and enjoy it for what it is.
Might even bump into a few of you along the way
