i dont see how kids being banned from shooting mags has any relation to kids buying fishing mags.
under 14's arnt allowed under law to own their own air rifle so if dad thinks its fine for his 12 yr old to have an airrifle then dad can buy them the magazine for it

The article says that it was pressure from the antis who didn't want youngsters seeing pictures of animals that had been shot. So as long as you are sure they won't take exception to a fish with a hook in its mouth you are ok!

DVD's and Cd's and the like have Age Restrictions on them, perhaps some Magazines should too .... as for the Anti's, best leave them to the Uncles.

Sorry about that, I had a bit of a rant about antis and their agenda :eek:mg:, but then calmed down and decided to delete it.

Utter nonsense, whoever made this decision is an idiot, completely out of touch with reality.

Opinion aside how do they check age at 14? It is unlikely that they will be carrying any proof of age, apart from a passport or a birth certificate, a 14 year old is not going to have proof of age, and they are very unlikely to carry those documents around with them every day.

Idiotic poppycock!!

In an age when anyone can access the hardest core porn on the internet freely, what is the function of the ban on the sale of magazines on shooting related issues to the under 14s. Lets face it if they want information on all aspects related to shooting and fishing they can get it from the web on any relevant site.
It is mere gesture politics designed to catch the briefest of headlines and quite honestly like so many of these gestures is doomed to ignominious failure.
So why bother getting all het up about it.
Believe me in that this generation of young people understand the world of the web and how to get what they want off it vastly better than our generation ever will, so if they want to read about shooting or any other subject on God's earth they will access it regardless of the best plans of the anti's.
Indeed it can be argued that given the natural curiosity of the young and the natural desire to seek out that which would find them on the receiving end of the of the opprobrium of the worlds miserable gits it is more likely to be appealing to them thus the campaign will prove to be self defeating....
