Please can any FM members help me out ive got a Mitchell match reel 440A can anybody tell me is the rachet on the reel silent as mine makes a clicking noise also ive got a Silstar match - graphite MG 29 reel how old are both of these reels thanks guys .

Mitchell Match 440a has a clicking ratchet (anti-reverse). From memory they stopped making these about 20 years ago so probably a bit older. I first bought Mitchell Matches in 1975 but they'd been around since about 1969. I think the 440A designation started about 1980. No idea on the Silstar.

And you weren't worried about the coffee grinder noises from the gears?
