I tend tto use weigh slings as carriers bags to offset the one penny charge that some retailers levy.
Carrying my weekly shopping back to the car in half a dozen Fox weigh slings does attract some confused glances.

That's what I'm trying to find out. Thanks for all the useful replies. Until I hear different I will go with Geoff and not wet it.

On a more serious note, the 2 occasions I have weighed chub and perch, I have wet the bag inside, weigh slings are usually wetted first.
