The battery pack cover goes in the right side of the battery pack looking at it as per the imageabove.
The cover is actually a holder for 8AA batteries rather than using the EN-EL3e battery in the pack that works in conjunction with thesame battery in the camera.

AhI see now, I have a simialr thing on the F5, I probably wont bother with one then Graham, I thought it might be something else that stuck onto the camera to make it look bigger and more impressive/forum/smilies/smile_smiley.gif

There is no doubt that a D300 with all the gubbins on it looks to be the supreme phallic symbol!
I think that's why The Monk is so desperate to get one - its for pulling the birds!
