I watch Jeremy Wade on tv fishing for electric eels using a bamboo rod to avoid shocks

Could you fish safely in a thunder storm using a bamboo rod

Marginally more safely than with a carbon rod which is one of the finest conductors of eletricity known to man!

I believe the first light bulb filaments were made out of bamboo.
