Yes, I'm off to fish a fairly small carp runs water before the frosts return. If I can find out exactly where they are, I fully expect to catch. If they don't give themselves away, I'm in trouble.

I've been thinking pretty much the same but I'm all carped out, after doing so much this spring, summer and autumn. Trouble is all my local rivers are basically unfishable.....

Might have a bash for zander??

No, not me either.

Even if i could there would be little point with my local Avon over the banks and in places above Salisbury it is about 500 yards wide.

I will spend the day in relaxed mode, all the shopping is done, pressies bought and wrapped so maybe just a spot of food prep today in readiness for tomorrow, and dinner out this evening.

i was out in the week on a thames marina and on the oxford canal yesterday...both fished very well with lots of small fish coming out, at work today but if you can get out i'd say the fish are feeding.

good luck

Fished yesterday, not on any river though!!

Managed a couple of decent bream to 9lb 14oz (that would have been a fish of the season 10 yrs ago) and a mint conditioned roach of 1lb 11oz.

Christmas eve is always a busy time. I went to the local hospital this morning with my Mrs to do the teas for the dialysis patients, (she manages the unit) then I took the Christmas cards round my tenants then it was coffee in my favourite cafe in Ironbridge before coming home to do the final prep for the big day. I'm now sitting waiting for my good lady to come home from doing the afternoon teas before we head to the pub for a couple of hours before my Daughter and her fella come round for their tea later.

Fishing can wait.

Deadbaiting for pike on a 65 acre pit the weather was appalling and I was the only one there.

Three runs occured, three runs missed - grrrrr!

Wind broke my brolly and rain broke my spirit. Tomorrow will be better (at home - not fishing !!);)

I found them. I knew exactly where the buggers were. Unfortunately, the place was flooded and I couldn't safely cast to them (beyond features/obstructions) or get to a better point to cast to them (would have needed waders). Drawing them to me proved a little tricky. As the time ticked past three o'clock it looked horribly like a blank was on the cards. Fortunately, the day was saved by four. On the plus side, my new brolly got its first proper test and it's excellent. The downside is that it's now covered in clarts and my gaff resembles a very specialised Chinese laundry.
