what hooklink should i use when fishing relatively short distances (30metres roughly).

the bottom is weedy and has snags but in some places theres not so much. im fishing depths between 1meter and up to 5 meters.

For me i'd fish either a pop up or a snowman on a monofilament hair rig hooklength.

You get less tangles off monofilament than off braid, you could try coated braids and just strip some of the coating back, but i prefer to use monofilament for my rigs.
