I rarely sea fish. My pathetic attempts at Beach casting until recently included catching a small flattie and a tiny codling some years ago. More recently I had a few small fish at Fareham when visiting friends and earlier last year, I had a holiday in Devon and took my beach caster. I ended up buying one for my wife and off we went. I had a nice wrasse and a stonking bite which I missed. This has made me think of going a little more. My nearest beaches would be around Brighton but I'm not too sure of beach fishing around there. Is it any good around Rye or Rye Harbour or would anywhere else be a better bet?

Any advice gratefully received.

There is good fishing to be had at Rye, Camber all along to Dungeness. Good fish can be caught close to the shore. I would wait until you get more experienced until I go to Dungeness because the tide can be very strong and it can be a tackle graveyard until you know what you are doing there.
