just kitted out with trion 7/8 weight fly rod and mustang reel, intend to fish a gin clear canal no boats very little angling pressure, need some advise on lines leaders ect, live in Widnes are there any casting forums out there ? have fished for 40 years time to try something new

It wont take.long with the casting just take your rod to an empty football pitch and practice lime hell when i was practising i was casting to leaves as if they were rising fish most of all enjoy what you do

Do yourself a real favour and have at least one casting lesson it will stand you in good stead and help prevent any bad habits in your casting as far as leaders go start off with a leader at least as long as your rod and as your casting improves lenghen it as requied. Alot of the time a level leader of good quility mono is all that is needed use say 6 pound and depending on the type and size of fish a finer tippit maybe.
