Middy make them in packs: I think its just a light hair rig with a small float stop pulled over the loop which is then used to tighten on to a pellet. If that makes any sense.

I feel I must comment on the art work which has been inserted on this thread.

It shows a VERY thin obviously "Southern angler" catching a VERY large fish in a "lasso".

This is just a continuation of the repression that we fat lads from the North of England have to put up with!

We also catch a few big ones you know, so I would ask that you (Dougal) immediately redress this "fattest crime" by drawing a bloke with a huge beer belly catching an equally large fish!

And another thing!

He hasn't got any feet!....do I also take it that you not only dislike fat people from the North of England, but also people who have no feet!

What next Dougal...a man with no head?

Draw a fat bloke WITH feet immediately or I shall report you to the moderator!

Deanos,

I can see your point, and would tend to agree with you....except that the drawing is exactly how I look. Now if I have offended you then I apologise for the way I look.

regards

Skinny man with no feet who catches fat fish

Deanos, I think you are quite wrong. Clearly the artist is influenced by the works of L S Lowry, who was born in Stretford, Lancashire and much of his work depicts the industrial heartland of Salford. Matchstick men (you excluded) clearly come from the North

Accuracy is important in all walks of life.

My southern man is standing in fine silt.

I had no problem portraying a big fat northern man but when it came to the large northern fish- well I just could'nt publish such falacies or untruths.

Now hang on a minute!

I dont mind the fat lad taking his pet hamster for a walk!....BUT I AM NOT HAPPY AT THE SIZE THAT YOU HAVE SHOWN HIS "MANHOOD" TO BE, is this bloke out on a very cold day or what?

It actually looks like my best mate Mr Gordon Whoppit!...ace reporter for south Yorkshires only specialist magazine for plumbers "Septic tank monthly".

That bloke is out on an early May day near castleford....so yes its very cold indeed.

The pie isthelatest in Pieagra but the effects take a while and you have to keep it warm, which, as stated, is tricky. Septic tanking is a nasty affliction that comes about from daily, not monthly, inflamation of the lower trouser furniture, in such bitter conditions.

Deanos,

Please check with your auntie Kathleen that it's OK for me stay there and wear her ski pants. I wouldn't mind putting a bit o' fat on me bones. I'm fed up with running about in the shower to get wet, andpeople asking me to stand sideways and stick me tongue out so I look like a zip! /forum/smilies/embarassed_smiley.gif

Try this :-

What are the knots that you use for different monos and braids ?or do you use the same for both ?.
There is a knot i use when hair-rigging a bait before tying the knotless knot so i never have to find a needle or a stop.
Hair-rig knot.
Does anybody out there have trouble with drilled pellets splitting when the bait is in the water for an extended period of time?
Well try tying the knot I use, which will hold a pellet complete for the hardest cast and all night ! ! ! And it only takes seconds to change bait . , it’s an easy knot to tie once you get the hang of it.

Take your hook length material and place upon it a hook , going through the eye from the front ,move the hook down out of your way so that the knot can now be tied.
Take the material and make 4 to 5 inch loop, follow that with a 2 inch loop on top of it , so you are now holding 3 strands between your finger and thumb with about 3 inches of the material hanging beyond. With the other hand take the end and pass it through both loops 4 times for bait up to 15mm or 5 times for larger bait. Gently pull on the larger loop so closing the smaller loop to make a grinner knot around what will become the bait loop. You should now have what looks like a hangman’s noose with the knot on the loop not the shank. Close the knot slowly to enclose what ever bait you choose and tighten , now bring the hook back and tie a knotless knot with the bait at the required distance from the bend of the hook. Pinching the knot between thumb and finger measure the required length of line and include 2 inches for the end loop, cut the line and pass the end through the eye from the back to finish off the knotless knot.
Try tying this knot at home in good light until you get it right , it has never let me down . You do need to tie a new one for each size of bait but you can fish for a week without touching a needle or stop. It will also tighten down around a round bait i.e. a boilie without needing to make a groove.
be lucky, steve.
