Andy,

Thanks for another really nice and evocative article.

I think that you and your friends have a great fishing relationship, and long may it thrive.

tight lines,

Peter.

PS, leave those carp puddles alone and stick to that beautiful river.

Thanks lads! The carp puddle is a bit of a bolt hole when time is short, and the going gets tough.

Great reading, was wondering how I was going to pass the last 15mins at work!

Nice to see that there are many other anglers with the same amount of luck as I have, which leaves me to beg the question am I really unlucky or just really bad at fishing!

Its all about having fun, and this article says to me you had a fantastically enjoyable weekend.

Ah the dreaded tea stain! I'd have been tempted to head for a carp puddle straight away!

Thanks again lads! Simon's right, it's all about having fun and the way the river was rising I don't think we had much option. The Swale is a fantastic river, we had a better time in September 2007 but you'll have to wait for Barbel Wars; Episode Three./forum/smilies/wink_smiley.gif

Your still missing something because today it's headed

DIARIES & STORIES28 / 05 / 08

You did miss the that the photo on the home page shows a semi naked angler, not been that warm recently has it?

It's a story thatmay have been written in this close season.

Strange, work out the date from the clothes people are wearing?
So its not been warm at all in Yorkshire since the close season started?
Also after refreshing page mine still says 27th.

"It's a story that may have been written in this close season."

Which does not say when the fishing took place.

Yes! Sorry! The story was written about a trip made in September 2006. And Mibut is correct it doesn't specifically say that although as Fred points out, it could be worked out from the photos and the reference to the previous story.

Fred,

"Well, fancy querying if this illustrious site of ours condones out of season river fishing!"

Where did i ask that?

If you want to put over that "this illustrious site" does NOT condone out of season fishing i suggest that in the stories, mention is made of WHEN the trip actually took place.

Instead of being sarcastic, why not try being a little more constructive.

If a "new" angler came to the site and read that story, do you not think that it gives the impression that it is ok to fish rivers NOW?

NO, I don't it's a 3 part story.

Just out of interest, do you read the angling monthly magazines?

Do they date their river fishing articles in the close season.

You asked if you were missing something, I responded.

No more no less.

Anyway, wasn't I my usual constuctive self to you September 2006?

"Mission Impossible – The Curse of the Barbel!
Andy Scholey with another light-hearted romp to Yorkshire’s river Swale to fish for barbel. "

doesn't mention 3 part story.

"Just out of interest, do you read the angling monthly magazines?Do they date their river fishing articles in the close season."
No they normally say thing s like get ready for the new season etc.

"You asked if you were missing something, I responded. "

As previously stated, with sarcasm.

"Anyway, wasn't I my usual constuctive self to you September 2006?"

And thanks were given at the time although advice was not correct.
