A Really enjoyable read Steve.

I hope you get a chance to get back and have a fish with Fred Crouch again. I always enjoyed my chats with him, especially when we got onto the Subject of "how much bait!" our thoughts concurred.

Undertaking Guiding will always get a fair share of people that don't agree with it, often the same people that have no problem with hiring a golfing pro or a sea skipper to take them out to a mark!

I certainly remember with fondness the time we had a fish together in the old days (well about 3 years ago on your Severn bit)

The bad news..........................Spurs last 2 games!

Cheers

Graham

I know this is going to upset some of Steve's mates, especially Fred and Rich but I am not going to apologise or not post my thoughts for fear of the inevitable personal attacks I will receive in return.

So here goes;
The title of this regular spot is 'The Popes River Diary'. I found this offering a little light as far as river diary content but a little heavy on the biographical content with a bit of adverorial content sprinkled over the top.

Now I know finding enough content to fit into a monthly river diary must be a bit tricky, especially when you don't even see a river for half the year, so rather than dilute the content with allot of personal naval gazing perhaps this item could be reduced to the five months of the year when Steve fishes the rivers in this country and renamed 'The life and times of Steve Pope' for the other seven months.

Perhaps it could. If the author chose to call it that. Otherwise, it's his call. Like it would be your call if you wrote it.

Certainly doesn't upset me Ade, It's your opinion, so no reason to get upset about it.

At best it's smarmless, and it would appear to be your sincere opinion, although perhaps it may have some built in personal gripe.

Now I'm left wondering how Fred managed to put together such a comprehensive post from this: "perhaps this item could be reduced to the five months of the year when Steve fishes the rivers in this country and renamed 'The life and times of Steve Pope' for the other seven months"

Not a criticism but what does "smarmless" mean?

:D !
Ade.... perhaps FM would publish a monthly spot if you produced one?
:D

I'd read it if he did.

I think that criticism of the series is valid, we've just entered the close season. I suppose a reasoned diversion could be Barbel on the fly, or tactics for still water Barbel.

Only if that's what is on Steve's mind bottle rocket, after all it is HIS diary, not something made up to please some!

I would read Ade's Diary if he did one.

Well Fred, you're right.

Anyways what about your fishing exploits? I did look out for you on the Ray Walton videos - 'The Real Adams Family' although you're listed as featuring I didn't see you - there's some good stuff there.

I'm quite sure Steve is a big enough lad to speak for himself rather than have you and Rich jumping in to defend any perceived criticism his Diary may receive.

Not certain we are defending Steve in anyway at all.
We both know he can speak for himself, much to some apparent dismay from the few.

I was in the video on voice only bottle rocket when I held the camera and filmed him weighing the 14lb plus below the bridge.
Oh,my car the Escort cabriolet features.

The series was enjoyable - a video record of a place and a time and I don't know the water, personalities or fish for Barbel.
