which rod

i will be fishing scottish sea loch from boat,for rays,pollock,mackeral,dog fish,some spurdog.Using 7ft 9"BOAT rod,would 12-20lb be the right rating or would 20-30lb line rating be correct.

I use a 20-30lb Fenwick seahawk pro (?50) and i do feel a little overgunned when feathering for mackeral (but it does give a healthy curve with a full house of 4) or bait fishing for pollock / bass, however if rays, dog fish and spurdog are around i would be tempted with the heavier option.

Note however i am no expert on this i do a lot more coarse fishing and dont just take my opinion on this
