Small tuna would probably go like a torpedo and the rod might not handle it? There are other rods, designated heavy like some of the Shimano Beastmasters that are rated to cast 100g that might be more useful. I have a 10ft Shimano rated to 60g that I use for salmon and bass but wouldn't really want to trust it on bluewater species.

Check out this link for a rod more suited to your purpose, ignore the boat rods and go to the bottom of the page. The rods are in 4-piece travel format which may well suit your purpose too?
