Hugh's latest blog entry:

hughmiles9.blogspot.co.uk

I've never fished for salmon in my life and my trout experience is limited to a couple of half-hearted goes on a put-and-take fishery -in the days before you could fish still-waters in the close season- and a few incidental captures of brown and sea trout while grayling fishing. However I'm seriously considering joining the SATA as a means of donating to the cause. £40 seems a small price to pay if it genuinely helps protect our riverine environments from the ever growing list of assailants.

I find the case Hugh makes for membership extremely compelling.

It certainly is Chris.

I've been a S&TA Member for the past 4 or 5 years, in fact I took membership there before the Angling Trust was formed.

It is not only the fish and our fishing that will suffer if the rivers are allowed to decline further, here's a little snippet from Hugh's blog:

"If kingfishers don’t eat for three days, they die. They have already suffered a 30% decline this past year."

If you can afford it then I urge all anglers to join the S&TA as well as the ATr.
