Hi Guys

Anyone Know what the spare Spool supplied with the Shimano Stradic GTM IS Made from, Metal or some sort of plastic.

I have been on their website but it does not say, I know they have a bit of a habit of using plastic for their spools but I want Metal when I am spending £100 plus on a reel, I don't like plastic spools, even on cheap reels.

Thanks

Paul

The last couple of versions (at least), the RC and RB, have had metal spools. The original GTM (no suffix) had composite spools with metal lips.

My Jap Stradics have got metal spools, and so they should for the money they cost! but I am sure I have seen the rear drag GTM advertized with a plastic spare spool.

Just checked on the Shimano website and it lists the Stradic GTM has having a spare XT-7 spool which is a composite carbon (or plastic?) material.

Hope that helps

I too do not like plastic spools...Awfull things! :(

The thing with buying spare metal spools is that it can be quite expensive. A spare AR-C spool for my Baitrunner D series costs around £45, I can buy the reel for £110!! (retail, £150)
