Large strides in the right direction.....
A slight aside; when a stretch of river (or canal, drain etc) gets polluted, instead of a restocking programme over several years involving the stocking of juvenile fish. Why don't the EA stock adult fish as close to the sizes that have been killed, then enabling the ecosystem to re-establish itself quicker.
Carp of 25-30lbs can be easily sourced and cost about £1000 each, though adult smaller species such as tench, bream, chub, barbel and roach are currently hard to come by, if they were going to used, someone would fill the gap.
And of course, all costs would be footed by the guilty party.
