As treasurer of the Royal Navy's Field Gun Competition held annually at HMS COLLINGWOOD in Fareham, I am delighted to report that, out of the charity funds raised during this event, we are donating £1,000 to Les's Angling Projects foundation. I am already in talks with Les to invite him down to the base to collect his cheque in early September. I am very much looking forward to meeting this special man.
Obviously as a keen angler I was able to convince the grants committee that this is an extremely worthwhile cause (Les's wife Judy tells me the project is already fully booked during the forthcoming school holidays) and I commend this foundation to any other group who are looking for an outlet for any fundraising activity they are currently engaged on. The number of kids supported is quite staggering, so please give it a thought.
