It's getting hotter. Anyone fishing this weekend?

I haven't had a very good time of it lately, hence not reported for the last week or so. Bream fishing in open matches is extremely frustrating at times. I seem to be drawing badly and in 3 of the last fixtures have been battered literally off the adjacent pegs. Casting the same distance and using almost identical end tackle as others my tip has been unnervingly still.
To cap that I drew a peg yesterday which had a big reedbed going out about 30m to my right. Every carp I hooked (on pole) went straight in to it. I must have done 10 rigs and lost 60lb of carps. This weekend I will be fishing a club match on the GUC near Tring. It will be nice to get back to proper fishing for roach, perch and gudgeon again but I understand it's going to be kin scorching hot.
Where will you be?

My club has a carp lake as well as a match lake, If I'm lucky I'll get a couple of hours very early in the morning.

Rugby (The Lions decider), Tennis x2 (Ladies' and Men's Finals), Garden and its Tomato Jungle (the elephants are restless), fitting in a river walk and a "Hello" to a couple of fishy friends for which I actually have two rods set up now but won't be taking out on Sunday - soon, though.

I might have to sacrifice this weekend as i'm off for a week after next week and want to get some big jobs around the house finished so that I can spend my week off on the river, chances are though i'll snatch a late afternoon/early evening session or two over the coming weekend given half the chance :)

Not for me for a few days now. We are in full blooded house hunting mode.

I should have been off fishing this afternoon, but we called at the local Notaires to enquire about a couple of houses for sale that they are dealing with and got kidnapped by a mad French woman who took us on a flying tour of what is on offer. 15 properties viewed over 25 square miles in three hours. It was like speed dating houses. Some of them were 60% to 250% over our budget and when I pointed out they were "Trop cher" she just gave this maniacal laugh and replied: "Tout est négociable."

We've also got appointments all weekend and well into next week :(

Out tomorrow morning for a few hours on a "carp" lake local to me. Nothing massive, I think the biggest one in there is just over 20 but you can almost guarantee to get a bend in your rod. Lot's of nice commons around the 12lb or so mark that fight like the clappers.
Hoping the wind dies down a bit so I can do some floater fishing.

I am not convinced I shall behave myself but I just have to go & see this. Deep down there are times when I think I was born 100 years too late. I have neither school rowing cap nor straw boater so I may be deemed to be improperly dressed & denied access.

Some of us have all the Ties we'd ever need (if we hadn't burned them), but still find the old "So sorry ... taking the Staff on their Annual Outing to Boo-gger Bognor" excuse works wonders, otherwise One finds Oneself setting back Britain another couple of centuries. Best to be well ahead than so so far behind that One's writing One's own suicide note, so to speak. The gals are lovely and leggy and glossy haired in a Mumsy and Daddy ("He has a place in Oxfordshire ... oh, where? ...well, Oxfordshire, actually.") sort of way, but tend to socialise with those rather further up the Food Chain than you. Give them all sorts of high-end charm and carnal grief then run like hell, I would...

As ever, supremely knowingly...

Decided against going due to hot weather. Don't fancy coming home looking like a lobster with the lack of shade. :(

Big Tilley hat, long sleeves, Factor 50 sunscreen - sorted - and had a nice productive day with 7 species caught. Weekends are for buying new cars and barbecues for the retired! :D  :w

Went this morning, started at 6am and two hours later, after the mist had burnt off, I was sweltering.
Hardly a breathe of wind, I was knackered by about 11 and packed up at 12 after catching 5 "reasonable" carp.
Not due to go again until Monday morning and it's supposed to be getting hotter....:wh:wh

It's around 28'c on Sunday, as much as I would love to go I think i will let them rest. Maybe pre-bait the area with some mashed bread a few times in the week till it cools down to a fishable heat for myself. :D
