Itis with sadness that I announce the death of Eric Hodson who passed away at Chestefield Hospital at1.00 pm today.

Eric had been ill with Alzheimers Disease for some time.

I will never forget him.

And neither should we, especially those who remember the foundations of specimen hunting in the 1960s.

Condolences from this website to Irene his widow and the rest of his family.

A true specimen hunter who will be remembered by many. Was it Eric who was co founder of the BCSG with Peter Mohan?????

Condolences to all his family and friends.

Eric was 84 by the way.

Eric certainly did co-found the BCSG with Peter Mohan. He also founded the National Association of Specimen Groups andthe Pike Society.

He wasresponsible for the huge expansion in specialist fishing that took place during the late 60s and 70s.

He was one of my closest friends.

I met him once at the meeting where the Pike society became the PAC...

Another true gent of the old school, we are losing them and its a massive loss.

RIP Mr Hodson.

Eric never got the full and deserved recognition for his services to specialist angling. His drive and vision were second to none. I had the great pleasure of serving with him on the NASG committee for a short spell and admired him greatly.

The specialist angling movement will always be in his debt.

RIP Eric.

I`ve only just got back on line but I found out about Eric passing on friday afternoon, although i had expected it for some time, you are never really ready for these things when they happen.. I was very privelledged to be able to class Eric as one of my closest friends in angling for a number of years, the last time we fished together was for a two week session in France back in the early 90s, we visited many national meetings together and I will truely miss Eric dearly.. Eric was one of the last true gentlemen of the sport, my very deepest condolenses to his wife Irene and his daughter, friends and family. Eric was resp[opnsible for so much of what we have in specialist angling today, Rons peice which is due to be published gives some insight into the work Eric did for angling. Farewell Eric old friend and thanks for the friendship we shared.

Ron please let me know when the funeral is so I can come over.
