Hello people,

I've been looking for a decent tackle insurer (fishing tackle, that is! Any other tackle I have is beyond insuring, at my age!) BUT, those I have found, seem OK, til you read the 'Exclusions' bit. Here, it always states, that tackle is not insured if kept in a shed or outbuilding. Where else am I supposed to keep it, for heaven's sake!!! The missus don't take kindly to wet nets in the bedroom. And, my shed is very secure, anyway. (I've read some of the bits that have been left on this site, previously, but none seem very current. Anything new happening?)

Can anyone recommend an insurer who doesn't have such ridiculous 'Exclusions' - Please?

Cheers, Jim

I do have my gear covered under house contents, but was hoping for a more specific policy, as Insurance companies are notorious - as we all know - for finding faults in our claims, and not paying out. I thought a company that specialised in Angling insurance would have it 'sorted' so-to-speak. Those I've looked at are OK to a point, but, as always, want it all their own way! It seems unreasonable, to me, not to cover equipment locked in a shed.

Anyway, thanks Woody for your help. I shall do some more research.

I have all my fishing kit covered by my House hold Insurance but !!!!! a big but I pay a one off premium of £80 to cover every piece of kit any place and at any time including accidental breakage . I have to list high value items eg. Poles etc you must be straight with them and keep receipts etc and provide a list of kit (not highly detailed but an approx list) I am insured with RIAS INSURANCE . best of luck dont touch any of the Companies that put fliers inside Fishing papers etc.

Thanks again people,

I phoned my contents cover company (Direct Line) and have been assured that by paying extra for 'Specified Items' (ie. my Fishing Tackle) I am covered for up to £15000 worth, and they DO cover it in a locked outbuilding or shed. I goit the guy on the phone to double check this for me, and he was adamant it was OK. So, I guess that's it.

Cheers for all your help.
