Weird looking cypriand in Norfolk

It is a dace, pure and simple. Slightly mis-shaped fish do occur and this is one of them.

I've emailed the Natural History Musuem who say Ide while Dr Mark Evarard says its a still water dace so the debate is open!

How ANYONE can think this fish an ide is beyond me. The lateral line count is so far out of the range for ide that it's a non starter yet is spot on for dace as are the other characteristics for dace. Yes, the head shape is slightly different but such variation is nothing unusual with most species. As for dace in ponds, once in a while an odd dace shows in a pond - no rational explanation bar someone releasing it there; I've had odd dace from a number of stillwaters that haven't produced one before or since.

Dont think its an ide , they are usually bright silver when small but darken as they get older and more chub like , very unusual head , its obviously a hybrid , but what i havnt got a clue .:confused:
