The last one I saw was on the Royalty fishery 2 seasons ago and it too was a decent size.

A friend of mine though told me of a few on my local section of the Upper Hampshire Avon two weeks ago.

Sat there last weekend when caught something moving out the corner of my eye. Turned out to be a snake swimming towards the island in the middle of the lake.

Totally unexpected but great to see.

Even better when the kid on the other side was screaming SNAKE! to his Dad

Seen quite a few on my club lake, superb sight but still for some reason give me a little jump when I see them. As an aside my parents had on in their pond, was very interested in the frogs and gold fish I think !! They caught it and it had obviously just had dinner, released into a much bigger natural pond about a mile away :)

I wuld estimate that I see perhaps 3, maybe 4 grassies per year plus the very occasional adder.

I am always impressed by their graceful and effecive swimming.
