Yes I have read the article in anglers mail this week.

My own reaction!

Sadness that the laws of this country have become watered down at every level.

If the law cant deal with drink drivers and killers to the degree that the majority of decent law abiding citizens would wish, then what chance do we have of anybody caring about a few fish being eaten?....no chance mate...sorry, on the scale of things, we are probably viewed as nothing more than a nuisance to the authorities!

Just my own view mate.

Let the punishment fit the crime: perhaps we should lightly boil them in a few inches of water until they promise not to do it again.

The police then explained the options and asked what I would like to do. I could either have them charged which would involve getting interpreters and taking up a lot of public time and great expense, or they could confiscate the fishing equipment and escort them off of the canal.

In other words.....too much paperwork for the police/forum/smilies/angry_smiley.gif

I realize there are far more serious crime going on in this country but I still think they shouldn't let them get away so easy. The words will be spread and the poaching will carry on, as they know that they can get away with it without getting charged.
