Hi Guys,

Im looking at getting a Spro dragmaster reel for my chub fishing, I don’t need a baitrunner for chubbing but being able to slacken off a bit with the fighting drag facility will be a bonus when I roll a snout or have a pee.

Does anyone have experience with Spro reel sizes, I wont be able to get out and have a feel of one so hopefully someone here can give me the info I need, Im looking at a 830 size and presume this would be about 3500-4000 size?

Or can anyone recommend a reel with fighting drag in the standard 30004000 size?

I'm sat here looking at my Spro Nova 740 and I reckon that's about a 3000/3500 sized reel. Certainly not as big as my Daiwa 4000 sized reels. To me this is a sort of smaller feeder sized reel. Not sure if that helps in any way but there you go.

Very smooth & well made reel btw...if a bit heavy. Solid piece of kit though.

Thanks Skippy.

I'll just bite the bullet and get one I think. I dont mind heavy reels as they balance rods nicely.

The garb says its suitable for medium feeder fishing and that will have to do.
