Not really sure where the best place to ask this is. But looking for a couple of good river or lake spots to fish around stockport, looking for as close to Heaton moor as possible for someone who has not fished for 10years

How mobile are you?

You could always try the Mersey down towards Parrs Wood with some mags....and I've a mate who has had some decent chub from slightly downstream of the A34 bridge.

There are small carp in the lakes in Abney Hall - (not the bird reserve though)...I think that is free fishing ..please check. Those ponds are quite shallow but the carp are easily visible in summer.

Join. Stockport Fed lots of fishing on River Goyt and a few nice ponds/ lakes

Fairly mobile. But not looking to go real far - At least not right now, while I get back into the swing of things
I actually took a walk down the Mersey by parrs wood yesterday - seemed very shallow in a lot of places. :s

Having googled over the past few days the first thing that seems to come up a lot is Heaton Mersey Reservoir?
