I am new here, so sorry if this has been posted before, but I am just getting back into fishing after a break of a few years.
The price of gear has suprised me. Back when I started fishing in the late 1980's, rods and reels were quite expensive, even at the entry level end of the market rods were rarely any cheaper than about £20 or so.
Today I just took delivery of a Silstar X performance spinnong rod, which cost me £14 all in.
I haven't fished with it yet, but the quality of it looks to be as good as my £100+ (Back in 1992) Diaflex Kevlar carp rod.
How on earth can they be made so cheaply still be of such good quality and still make a profit?
I see that reels have also come down in price too. I paid £40 for my Mitchell predator reel, but now you can better reels for £20 or so.
Simon.
