I have recently joined shugborough fishing club, the water I can use is on the trent from essex bridge downstream for about a mile or so.

As yet I haven't had chance to fish it, but am looking for some inside infomation as to what I can expect to catch.

I have had a walk along the streatch and seen what looks likeshoals of roach but am unsure if there is anything in their thats a bit bigger.

The essex bridge area of the river looks fantastic for trout but as yet I am still a novice with the fly.

Any help would be greatfully received.

gec ac controlled a stretch at shugborough and i ran matches on it good fishing for roach chub perch .gudgeon odd big carp ,this was years ago jon and the river was cleaning up from pollution in those days even so twenty pound match weights were possible,i imagine the fishing is 1st class now given the improvement in water quality since then

trout were caught occasionally
