If it is a Club Water, why would anyone have to pay for a day Ticket?
Lots of clubs issue day tickets for non-members to fish their venues, as an added source of income.

I would have thought that you would have purchased them before hand. Sort of pay then Fish.
Some clubs do just that but then they still need to bailiff the venue to ensure that no one is fishing that shouldn't be.
One of my clubs is pay first then fish, another is pay on the bank to the authorised bailiff.

I guess i can see the benefits of doing it that way. It's a pity that some people try to rip off others for a small gain.

I remebered this happening before somewhere a while back - if in doubt ask to see id as you would with anyone claims to be an offical in any walk of life

We never see any bailiffs on the stretches of canal that i fished, you were lucky to see another angler most days.
