With the current euphoria over the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, I’m a little dismayed at the under representation of the ancient sport of angling. I think it’s about time we, the angling community, made plans for London 2012. I propose that we lobby the IOC for the inclusion of the following aspects of our sport to be included in the coming Games:

Men’s Individual Spodding - 60m

Men’s Synchronised Spodding – 60m

Four Man Coxless 40gm Method Feeder Casting

Freestyle Balling-In

And I would personally put myself down for coaching the Women’s Beach VolleySpodding; if my place in the middle distance bite-missing team was under pressure.

I’m sure if we put our heads together we can come up with some more disciplines. There could be Sport UK grants available!

Skoda; England would not stand a chance if angling was to be part of the Olympics.

Just look at some of the threads on here, they can,t agree with one and other, so what chance would they have?

Jimmy, do a search for the world casting champions, the England team have won for the last few years. shame they have to fund getting there, fees, etc themselves.

Come off it Alan; I would put money on it that you could do it just the same.

And it,s not angling.

The Monk; could do better that them with a whip.

The England Team have won Gold a number of times, and the individual gold more times than i can remember.

As we cant have the Hammer throw, we could have the Groundbait chuck.

Maggot race, worm relay
