At the start of the year I posted the following:

Are you the type of angler who's always looking to re-invent the wheel?
Are you doing anything news worthy on your local lake/river?
Do you experiment with rigs and or baits to give yourself an edge over other anglers?
If you can answer yes to any of these, give me a ring at Improve Your Coarse Fishing magazine on 01733 465699 or email mark.parker@bauerconsumer.co.uk with your ideas.
And you could be in an upcoming issue of IYCF!

Well, a handful of anglers replied and the magazine was able to do some excellent six and eight page features with them. Some guys had more than one idea and could now become regulars in the magazine?
This time I?m still after more ? as always! All of you who didn?t have the nerve last time, why not give it a go this time?what have you got to lose?
So if you fancy giving it a go, please give me a ring or send me an email with your contact details with a brief description of what you?re doing, and maybe you?ll be starring in your own feature in Britain?s biggest selling fishing monthly.

Dear Matt, I wrote regular articles in the local press and other angling magazines but stopped when they refused to pay even my basic expenses.

I am purely a pleasure angler, like most of the anglers in the UK and found that they were sick and tired of the same old stuff in the leading magazines, ie; carp, carp, fishing in the South, carp, barbel, match, match.... get the picture!

I wrote articles that the average Joe Blogg angler wanted to read, about local fisheries, local characters, my own exploits and serious tackle reviews.

So, if you want someone with a different slant to angling writing, give me an e-mail at donbain@talktalk.net.

I did a 4 page feature in IYCF several years ago. It was on roach fishing and the weather was terrible. I had planned to get a 2 pounder to order, but managed one of 1lb 14oz.

My brolly took off as the fish took the bait. You should have seen the performance, tackle flying around in thegale and expensive Canon and Nikon cameras - propery of Emap falling in the lake.

I'm glad that photographic equipment wasn't mine.

Perhaps I should do them one on how to stret peg!

Time for another go, Ron. Split into four parts,
1) What happened in ****'s Hut
2) Stick float fishing the J W Martin way
3) Over the rainbow(s)
4) The SA Method

I have my famous article with reference to "Self defence techniques against an escaped Baboon with a big red arse on the river bank" ready and waiting.....

We all know the knotless knot, but just imagine a few pictures of Martin Bowler leathering an enraged monkey with his bank stick whilst dressed in a Karate suit!

I await your call! (ps. I cannot supply a monkey, but my friend Mr Gordon Whoppit has offered to dress up in a gorilla suit for any pending photo shoot).

Deanos.

Having got my hands on the very latest copy of IYCF (issue 210), I'd say that anyone thinking of having a go should grasp the opportunity with both hands and get in touch with Mark. It will be challenging to say the least because you need to deliver the goods but it is an interesting insight into magazine features.

I shall certainly try to think up another idea for a feature.
