I last fished on Saturday as it was a reasonable day, but despite every effort I just couldn't get past the smallish carp to find the decent roach. Even the smallest smidge of flake, punched bread or casters only managed to find the carp....
All good fun on light tackle though......and it was good to be out!
Regards the weather; I try to avoid wet, windy days as we all do, so to make sure I don't miss an opportunity I make every effort to get the latest general/local reports. However, taking yesterday as an example we had (on the 11.20pm BBC forecast the night before) loads of showers/heavy rain racing across the south driven by wind. On this basis I decided to give it a miss...
Fast forward to yesterday morning and after a cool start the sun came out and not a single shower in sight until well into the afternoon! Not even a black cloud...
Come last night when the weather came on, and they decide to show what actually happened with the weather for the day.The promised rain/showers had passed along the coastal counties and not inland.
Yes, I know it's difficult to predict exactly where the wind will drive the rain, but when trying to plan a half day's fishing and avoid having to dry the gear out afterward, not to mention the gallon of fuel spent on the journey, it all becomes a bit tedious..
The forecast for today predicts the same weather pattern, so here I sit, trying to decide on a 'go for it and to hell with the consequences' or to varnish a few floats.............
Trouble is, one gets restless, although I suppose I can always go walking in the mud, rain and wind......some alternative eh!!
