My son has recently bought some fishing gear and these items were included.

I haven't seen these things before, so can anyone help as to what they are for. The long hook is a Preston item.

Thanks in advance.

The long needle with the hook on the end is a stringer needle for threading baits onto PVA string or tape, no idea on the other bit.

Stringer needles generally have a sharp point and a latch to avoid damaging the boilies/baits too much when pushing/pulling through. The item could also be a hook for removing a bung and elastic from a pole.

The other is a piece of catty elastic.

Yep, stringer / baiting needle, a bit like you see for threading through a mesh PVA bag that you then attach to your hook length. One side of a catapults Elastic.

Didn't think it would be anything to do with PVA mesh bags as the hook would snag up in the mesh.

Thanks for the answers.

There were some extremely small floats included too, which I assume are pole/whip ones. I will ask about those shortly.

I have included a ballpoint pen to indicate the size of the floats.

A couple look like small wagglers and others like pole floats.

Finally, the 2 items that are obviously not floats, are like some sort of clamps.

Any help in identifying the items is much appreciated.

The first one is a carrot float (very possibly Italian, Cralusso or Tubertini) - canals or lakes where delicate presentation is required. :)

The black plastic clamps are line clips they can be fitted on rods the tension is adjusted by tightening the screw they are also used on drop off indicators for pike fishing or any fishing where lift arms are used.

The long needle item is for extracting a bung from the inside of a pole top kit
