Bait boats

I have just bought a bait boat and will be using it for the first time today.

Are there any Do's and Don'ts I should know about ? On the lake I am going to there are 8 of this years young swans which are fully grown now and the male parent.

I am going to try and make sure they are not nearby but could they be aggressive if they spot it ?

Yes they "could" be.

If you are in any doubt as to how much power is in the boat. Send it out so that the wind will blow it back towards you if it packs in. Make a mental note of how many times and what distance you send it out until you get used to it. And tape that little hole up on the front of the boat. Take it off again when you have finished your session.
