Savay lake started unusually well, with almost all syndicate members hooking carp the first week. Many were lost, including four by Carp Society chairman Rodger Smith, who lost one after playing it for two hours twenty minutes. The water yielded six fish over thirty pounds in the opening fortnight, biggest to **** 'Chad' Caldwell, a mirror of 35 plus. Jack Ashford of Leisure Sport tells us most of their waters are fishing well, as far as he knows everyone does not report their fish in that part of the world. . . Best Tench was Graham Stockton's 7.04 from Fishers Green. The same water produced a 6.03 chub for Roy Tompkins. Carp included Geoff Coatworth's 26 from Aldermaston, an unidentified mirror of 37 plus from Yately, which could be the Copse lake fish, and Robin Dix's marvellous 41.12 leather also from Yately. The whisper is that this fish came from the car park lake. The Darenth waters has produced four thirty plus fish by the end of June. Biggest went 32.02 and fell to Mark 'ledgend in his own mind' Summers whose seven fish catch included four twenties in addition to the biggie. Confused Cornish Cockney loverble Pete Amey, had another seven fish catch all tench to6.05. We asked Pete for a quote, which we could not understand, but he did not sound pleased. Thirties for John Kendricks and Colin Smith. Success for Bill Walford and Phil Turner. Nationally known tackle dealer Kevin Nash scored with the golden tail fish at 41.08 Kev worked for that fish, which fell to a Hutchinson protein mix. Slowish start at Richworth Redmire. Malc Winkworth had a 22.00 plus mirror the first week and Sheffield super star Greg Fletcher landed 'Raspberry' at 24.08 the second. No whisper of any fish to compete with Alistair Nicholsons 15.6 bream or Trings big Tench 12.08 [ by Alan Wilson]. Rumours of four nine plusses to a southern golden oldie who must remain nameless, and a 7 pound male tench to Yorkshire genius Kev Clifford. Talking of Yorkshire if we must. Enough twenty plusses to fill a Thorpie list six times over in the first month, biggest reported being Pete Fiddlers 26 plus from the brickyard. Tken from Coarse angler Aug. 85
