The local NE TV news has been carrying the story of a bit of fishing going for auction on the river Wear at Wolsingham, Co Durham.
Listed at JUST £3,000 for 300 yds it eventually went to 'a family of fishing enthusiastics' from outside of the area for £25,000. That works out at just under £84/yd. The 'going rate' to rent on the Wear is about £1-50 - £2-00 yd.
Proves the old saying that a fool and his money are easily parted. Probably had not even seen the water.
Reminds me of abrother of a friend (lives in the SE) who bought two flats in the NE without seeing them. When he eventually did he wished to God he hadn't. Doubt he will ever shift them now.
