Zander Landed from River Dee

my mate had a little zander from r dee at eccleston between car park and the A55 flyover, it was not very big just a few ounces! sorry but he put it back because we did'nt know that they was not supposed to be in there.

now we know! we will not be putting them back.

Bet you it was a ruffe........

Over recent years carp have found their way into the Dee, as have barbel as a result of illegal fish movement from the Severn.

Zander are not the bad guys they were once portraited as. They do less damge that the flying black peril.

the trouble is the EA say "dont put them back", but realistically that's not going to have any effect at all.

If there are zander in there, and if its a suitable habitat they will thrive, but lets not go overboard about this one isolated capture, because it means very little on its own. It may also have been mis-identified too. There was another scare story recently about zander being caught in Oulton broad, and of course all the Narfalk boys threw their hands up in the air about it. Trouble was it turned out to be a bass!
