I thought it might be interesting to revive a thread from long ago on another site ...and I also thought it would be a bit of fun to find out who has caught the biggest fish......I have a couple of decent PB's but it gets pretty bad after that.

Here's my contribution....

Barbel......15lb 1oz..........Trent
Chub........6lb 12oz..........Swale
Roach...... 1lb 9oz...........Swale
Pike......... 20lb 3oz.........Trent
Tench.......6lb 3oz...........Medlam Drain, Boston
Carp.........19lb 12oz........The Willows near Mablethorpe
Perch........1lb 8oz...........The Middle Level Drain
Bream........8lb 7oz......... Trent

Well...that puts me in the lead.....but I suspect not for much longer....

The 4lb Ide must have been a nice fish Paul....I reckon my biggest Ide was around 1lb or so....and I forgot that fish for the list.

....so for the record I'll put mine down at 1lb on the button

When I caught my first Ide ...I thought I was in for some great roach fishing....I had never seen an Ide before and I thought they looked just like big roach.

Of course after scrutinising the fish deeper...I could see they weren't roach after all.......

...still I enjoyed catching them.

The roach was from a commercial where most fish for the carp the assunption being that the roach grow fat on the food intended for the carp , my son had many more than I did...

i do feel very proud of the perch as it was my intended target and it was after many hours of blanking , over twenty hours toal I reckon, no I don't have a photo (. Don't need one really ).

Why don't you put the photo up of thst giant barbel you caught I was always very impressed with that.

Some nice carp there Peter and a cracking bream too.....

I have had quite a few chub over the 6lb mark......but none in the last 15 years or so.... I used to get most of those fish in the Swale....there used to be some stonking chub at Topcliffe on the old Black Bull stretch before it became syndicate controlled...must have had half a dozen of them there....and I once saw a guy catch a 7lb 1oz chub and he caught it in the very next peg and at the exact same time I was landing one of my 6lbers.....incredible moment.

Great list though Peter....well done....I reckon you must be in top spot with that little lot mate.

catfish: 3lb 8oz

I suppose of that list, the wells catfish is the most impressive (it's not a typo) :)

Edit - in retrospect I agree with the later posts, but I'm happy to leave this one in :)
