A well written article which descibes an approach to angling that I can identify with too.
I often just sit and absorb the atmosphere on a nice evening by the waterside after catching one or two nice Carp or Barbel or Tench, and often I wouldn't care less whether or not I caught anymore fish that evening, whereas when I was younger I wanted to catch everything in front of me as fast as I could.
I think it comes with age where 'being able to stop and smell the roses' (ie. appreciate everything around me) is just as important as catching fish.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your article.
