How much salt?

warm, moist atmosphere... any less than 1/2Kg to that lot will need to be used within 3 days before mould starts to form.

Surely it will dry in the airing cupboard?

Wont too much salt put fish off?

It will eventually dry but it is the perfect medium and conditions for mould to grow.

Yes it will preserve but too much salt will put fish off. There are various ways to preserve but the best way with groundbait is to prepare it at the waters edge or at home the night before you go fishing.

If you want to salvage it you will need to spread it thinly and let the air circulate to dry it. Leave outside in a sheltered spot using several containers with some netting over it.

A dehumidifier will also work, as will low heat from the oven, cover it all with syrup and drain and a few more 'secrets' to do with predigestion...

My freezer's full of leftover bags of groundbait. The problem is that none are labelled, so it's pot luck what comes back out :eek:mg:

If you consider those ingredients they are 99.9% Feed Content

Personally I far prefer the continental style groundbaits that have been formulated over many years to entice and attract and also have much less in the way of feed.

The whole idea of groundbait is to attract fish to your hook bait and not to feed them off . . . . . . . . .
