Hi guys iv been feeder fishing with my spin rod which isnt cutting it.

As im quite new to it still and really tight for cash I need one for less than twenty quid.

On ebay the options are

Shimano joy 300
Shakespear xcede 8ft feeder rod
Oakwood Power feeder 12ft
Leeda carp 12ft feeder

These rods range from 8 to 12 ft

Ill be mostly at commercial lakes but may have a dip in the river when season begins.

Does anyone have any advice regarding length, and make etc.

Thanks

M

Is there any benefits or trade offs between 8ft, 9ft and 10ft

Yes short rods for close in work in tight under trees and longer rods for distance.
Thats why I recommend a JW you can use it at 11 for 13 feet. The 13 comes in for casting long distances and holding a lot of line off the flow. Also has a float tip which comes in great for heavy float fishing for tench and chub

Cant seem to find one around for my budget.

Might go for either the 10ft garbolino or the shimano joy 300 at the moment

The garbolino rocket pickers are great little rods, worth going just that little over budget. For the ultra budget choice though, gooutdoors do the ron thompson winklepicker for 9.99 at the minute, if you have the discount card. (card costs a fiver, but you only pay it once). Surprising little rod, got my little brother one at christmas, and was very surprised.

Go Outdoors have plenty of cheap feeder rod options. Take a peek:All Fishing Rods | GO Outdoors

Hi

For a cheap feeder rod it's also worth looking at one of the Avanti rods from the dreaded Dragon Carp, only £10 but a dream to use.

10 foot with three quiver tips and only £10 ;)
